The state of Kansas with its beautiful natural prairies, green trees, rolling hills (yes), friendly and relaxed people, and the ever-present teacher shortage gave me quite a surprise when I applied for my certification. But I think it affirms the reason I am here in the first place, and it will end up changing my life as an educator for the better.
I did not want my teacher friends who only subscribe to my teacher blog to miss this one!

Well, I tried to do one thing for someone I love who hadn’t figured out yet how to navigate the waters of Teachers Pay Teachers. It is difficult–you type in what you need and 4,000 resources come up. Come on, sestra…(my little sister). To give her credit, she is a pretty new teacher. Ok, so anyway, I created a new IEP/504 at a glance just for her. There are, at last count, over 1,000 listed on TpT, so I don’t expect this to be a runaway money maker. I sent this to my teacher pals in Texas so they could give it a once-over.
And I ended up creating something entirely different. It took forever. Back and forth with a friend of mine…move that…what about this…no, this part…
Somewhere in the annoyance, it was just like old times. I thought about while spending two hours creating this (that didn’t look like what I started with) how when you love someone, you DO STUFF for them! Even if it’s kind of annoying. Just for the sake of being together. Like recreating this spreadsheet. Or going to a class that is all about forbs and grasses. Or staying late to work on bulletin boards. Or doing happy hour at that restaurant you hate. Or sweating lesson plans which are risky but that you know will be really fun. Or sitting with someone in a tough ARD because you share the kid. Or working together to organize classroom libraries which will later get turned upside down. By later I mean, like a week later.
I miss my friends.
I miss my family.
There are some things I can’t do for them. But some that I can. God gave me a servant’s heart and distance doesn’t change that. So I’ll keep sharing resources and writing love notes…besides nothing says love like a Google Form.
Oh, and here’s the link to the new creation, made with a whole lot of love.
